JOB DESCRIPTION FOR A SMSF ACCOUNTANT

Our client is an Australian owned outsourcing company that was born out of the necessity for companies like their clients to be able to reduce costs, streamline their business, and make the entire operation more efficient. They have over 15 years offshoring experience in a wide variety of industries, making them the right choice to be able to transition sections of their client’s workforce offshore.

We are looking for a Self-Managed Superannuation Fund (SMSF) Accountant to join our elite team, who is also wanting to genuinely help people and have good client interactions. SMSF Accountant’s focus will be accurately completing the above tasks, using the specialist SMSF accounting software which is specific to our business. The successful candidate will help build the client’s best practice process to streamline his workflow and systematize the business.

As a SMSF Accountant:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, or similar discipline is strongly preferred.
• Must have at least 2-3 years of Australian Accounting experience.
• At least 1-2 years Proven experience for SMSF.
• Expert in using BGL 360 Software.
• Public practice experience would be desirable, but not essential.
• Possess the drive to provide clients with an exceptionally high level of advice and care.
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize workload.
• Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail and accuracy
• Skilled multi-tasker, reliable and committed to consistently meeting deadlines.
• You should be confident and have excellent organizational skills.

Your Responsibilities as a SMSF Accountant would be:

• Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for self-managed superannuation funds.
• Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals.
• The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and clients.
• Ownership qualities and the ability to successfully manage workflow.
• Proactive attitude, self-motivated and ability to work unsupervised and in a team environment.
• Reviewing taxation notices and preparing correspondence to clients.
• Liaising with various providers and statutory authorities on behalf of clients.
• Preparing detailed working paper files including investment, income, and CGT reconciliations.
• Processing transactions for Trustees, benefits transfers, contributions, and benefits payments on behalf of clients.
• Ensuring jobs are completed effectively by meeting technical standards and deadlines.
• Ensuring clients are made aware of their compliance obligations.
